Samsung Electronics is gearing up to showcase a new generation of high-tech appliances at CES, designed to make household chores virtually effortless.

Earlier this month, Samsung Australia executives traveled to South Korea for a briefing on the company’s latest AI-powered Bespoke lineup. The premium range is built to reduce everyday household tasks, marking a major step toward Samsung’s long-term goal of achieving “zero household labor.”

As part of its expansion, Samsung is expected to announce that it has more than tripled its lineup of AI-enabled home appliances for the coming year, reflecting a strategic push into smart, autonomous devices.

According to Executive Vice President Moon Jeong-Seung, who recently addressed Australian retailers, a new era of home appliances is underway. Moon, who leads Samsung’s digital appliance development team, said the company is focused on integrating AI technology so devices can understand users and perform tasks autonomously.

“We will further advance the integration between AI technologies and devices so that devices can understand users and perform functions autonomously,” Moon said in an interview on Samsung Newsroom.

The number of AI-driven appliance models is set to jump from roughly 300 at the end of 2024 to over 1,030 already today.

This growth will also introduce new categories and products for the Australian market.

Samsung’s Bespoke appliances were originally designed to let consumers choose from a variety of panel colors to match their kitchens. However, retailers like Harvey Norman dropped the range, citing the time it took customers to make colour selections. “We want to sell appliances, not be color consultants,” the retailer told ChannelNews.

Since last year, Samsung has been applying AI technology across its Bespoke lineup. The latest models feature larger touchscreens, the Bixby voice assistant, and hub functions for seamless interaction with other smart devices.

Moon highlighted several AI-driven innovations. The Family Hub refrigerator now includes Voice ID, which recognizes individual family members and delivers personalized schedules and information. Samsung’s “Wake-up-less” Bixby technology allows users to operate devices — such as opening a fridge or starting a washer — without saying “Hi Bixby.”

Product-specific AI features include the Bespoke Family Hub refrigerator, which can automatically recognize ingredients and suggest customized recipes. The AI Combo laundry dryer analyzes clothing soil levels and weight, recommends the optimal amount of detergent, and completes washing and drying quietly and efficiently.

Looking ahead, Samsung is expanding into the B2B market, exploring ways to integrate Bespoke appliances into modular homes and large apartment towers. The company is collaborating with third-party software providers to make fully integrated, AI-driven appliances a feature of next-generation building design.
