Samsung could soon join the growing open-ear audio category, with new leaks suggesting the company is preparing to launch a completely new wireless earbud range that moves away from its traditional Galaxy Buds line-up.

The rumours began after users spotted references to a product called “Galaxy Able” within a recent update to Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app. While Samsung has yet to officially announce the device, the discovery aligns with earlier reports pointing to a new family of earbuds rather than another addition to the existing Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Buds Pro series.

Previous leaks identified the codename “BUDSABLE” alongside the model number SM-U6000, fuelling speculation that Samsung has been developing a different style of earbuds. More recently, leaked artwork has suggested the company is adopting a clip-on or open-ear design instead of the conventional in-ear approach.

Further reports from SammyGuru claim the earbuds could incorporate bone conduction technology, allowing users to hear music while keeping their ears open to surrounding sounds. If accurate, Samsung would be entering a segment currently occupied by brands such as Shokz, which popularised bone conduction headphones for runners and outdoor enthusiasts.

The move would also reflect a broader shift in the wireless audio market. While premium noise-cancelling earbuds continue to dominate, more manufacturers are introducing open-ear products aimed at users who prioritise comfort, situational awareness and all-day wear.

Motorola recently demonstrated the appeal of the category with its Moto Buds Loop, which we reviewed in May. Rather than sealing the ear canal, the Moto Buds Loop wrap around the ear to provide a lightweight, comfortable fit while allowing users to remain aware of traffic, conversations and other environmental sounds. Their stylish design, Bose-tuned audio and practical everyday usability earned them praise as one of the strongest open-ear earbud options currently available, despite the reduced bass and limited noise isolation that naturally come with the design.

If Samsung follows a similar approach, the Galaxy Able earbuds could appeal to commuters, office workers and fitness enthusiasts looking for an alternative to traditional in-ear models. Whether the company ultimately opts for bone conduction, air conduction or another open-ear technology remains unknown.

Samsung has not confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Able range or announced a launch date. However, with references already appearing in official software and multiple leaks pointing in the same direction, it appears increasingly likely that the company is preparing to expand beyond its established Galaxy Buds portfolio with a new style of wireless earbuds.
