Samsung Sells More Foldables Than Other Brands Combined

Samsung has a commanding lead in the fast-growing foldables market, with its Z Flip and Z Fold phones selling more than all other brands combined.

According to Canalys research, the foldable smartphone market recorded 14.2 million total shipments in 2022.

Of these, Samsung accounted for just under 12 million, with closest rival Huawei shipping fewer than 2 million units.

Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor each shipped under 1 million. Motorola’s Razr foldable has been a failure compared to the rest of the market, with its splashy return to the market amounting to roughly 40,000 global shipments.

Foldable smartphone shipments are expected to double this year, to hit 30 million.

Samsung aims to ship a combined 15 million Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 devices this year, on top of the launch of the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 later in the year.
