Samsung Galaxy Z8 Series Sets New Pre-Order Record In South Korea
Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones have achieved a major milestone in their home market, with the Galaxy Z8 series recording the highest pre-order total of any Galaxy lineup in the company’s history.
According to Yonhap News, the combined Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 attracted 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea during a six-day pre-order period, surpassing the long-standing record of 1.38 million set by the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ in 2019.
The achievement is particularly significant because the Galaxy Note10 record was reached over 11 days, while Samsung’s latest foldables exceeded it in almost half the time.
The result also marks a remarkable turnaround for Samsung’s foldable business. Previous generations experienced fluctuating demand, with the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 reaching a then-record 1.02 million pre-orders before the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 slipped to 910,000 reservations.
Demand recovered with last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, which attracted 1.04 million pre-orders, but the new Galaxy Z8 family has comfortably eclipsed that figure.
The latest sales performance also represents the first time Samsung’s foldable flagship range has outperformed one of its traditional Galaxy S series launches.
Earlier this year, the Galaxy S26 lineup established a new pre-order record for the Galaxy S family with 1.35 million reservations over seven days. The Galaxy Z8 series has now overtaken that figure, highlighting growing consumer demand for premium foldable smartphones.

Samsung is believed to have benefited from strong interest in the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold8, which introduces a wider folding display than previous generations. The model reportedly accounted for around 70 per cent of all Galaxy Z8 series pre-orders in South Korea.
The Fold8 also proved especially popular among younger buyers and female customers, with consumers in their 30s and below, together with women, representing around half of all Fold8 purchasers.
Strong momentum is also being reported outside South Korea.
In India, Samsung said the Galaxy Z8 family generated 271,000 pre-orders in just three days. By comparison, the previous Galaxy Z foldable generation required 15 days to reach the same sales milestone.
The figures suggest Samsung’s latest foldable strategy is resonating with consumers, as the company continues to position the Galaxy Z range as the flagship successor to its former Galaxy Note series. With record-breaking demand across multiple markets, the Galaxy Z8 lineup has delivered Samsung’s strongest foldable launch to date.
