Hisense is preparing to expand its premium projector range with the PX4 Pro, an ultra-short-throw 4K model featuring upgraded brightness, gaming technology and audio tuned by French hi-fi brand Devialet.

The successor to the PX3-Pro has been priced at A$4,499, matching its 2024 predecessor despite receiving a major spec upgrade.

Hisense’s TriChroma RGB triple-laser system can produce images ranging from 80 inches to 200 inches while sitting only a short distance from a wall or projector screen.

Brightness has increased from 3,000 ANSI lumens on the PX3-Pro to 3,500 ANSI lumens, while the claimed contrast ratio has more than doubled to 6,500:1.

The projector uses Hisense’s LPU Digital Laser Engine 3.0 and is claimed to cover 118% of the BT.2020 colour space. A seven-level adjustable iris and CineBlack Pro technology are designed to improve black levels and reveal additional detail in darker scenes.

Hisense has also replaced the PX3-Pro’s Harman Kardon-tuned speakers with a six-speaker, 66W Dolby Atmos system tuned by high-end audio company Devialet.

The PX4 Pro supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, IMAX Enhanced, Filmmaker Mode and DTS, allowing it to operate as a largely self-contained home cinema system without requiring a separate streaming device or soundbar.

Gaming is another major focus. The PX3-Pro was described as the world’s first “Designed for Xbox ultra short throw projector” and that gaming emphasis continues with the PX4 Pro.

Hisense claims the new model is the world’s first ultra-short-throw laser projector to receive AMD FreeSync Premium certification.

It supports variable refresh rates, Dolby Vision Gaming and input latency as low as 1ms when running at 2K resolution and 240Hz. A future update to Hisense’s VIDAA smart platform will also add Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Apple AirPlay and Miracast.
