Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, Details Leaked

The rumour mill is spinning with new details on Samsung’s upgrade from 2018’s Gear Sport, the Galaxy Watch Active, tipped to be revealed at the Unpacked event next week.

Samsung’s new sports-focused smartwatch appears to be eliminating the popular navigation bezel ring — based on renders.

According to the leaks, the screen size is also decreasing to 1.1 inches but the watch itself will increase in thickness from 11.6mm to 13mm.

It will reportedly feature a 360 x 360 resolution display and a smaller 230 mAh battery with wireless charging, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC for Samsung Pay, heart rate monitor, mic and speaker, and WiFi capabilities.

As it is a Samsung wearable, it will be powered by Tizen 4.0.3, not Wear OS, and powered by the dual-core Exynos 9110 processor.

It’s likely that Samsung may integrate its smart voice assistant Bixby into the smartwatch.

Like the Galaxy Watch, it’s predicted to contain a sleep monitor and stress tracking, in addition to a pedometer, barometer, gravity sensor and more.

The Watch Active is tipped to be available in four different colours: silver, black, teal, and rose gold.

Nothing official has been released, likely more details will be revealed at Samsung’s Unpacked event on February 20, where the Galaxy S10 and the foldable phone will be officially unveiled.
