Samsung Ends China Phone Biz

Samsung Electronics has ended mobile telephone production in China after failing to weather the intense competition from domestic rivals in the world’s biggest smartphone market.

The shutdown of Samsung’s last China phone factory comes after it cut production at one of its plants in the south and suspended another factory late last year.

The South Korean tech giant’s decision follows other manufacturers shifting production from the Middle Kingdom due to rising labour costs and the economic slowdown.
