Uniden is expanding further into lifestyle technology in Australia with the launch of LOOOP, a new family of portable Bluetooth speakers spanning compact personal audio through to a 100W party speaker.

The range comprises four models named after the Japanese numbers one to four, reflecting Uniden’s Japanese heritage. Ichi, Ni, San and Yon increase progressively in size and output, with prices starting at $49 and reaching $199 for the flagship model.

The entry-level LOOOP Ichi is a compact 5W Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a portable lantern. It features a magnetic base, integrated lighting and hands-free calling, along with IPX4 splash resistance. Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours, making it suitable for camping, workshops and other situations where a smaller speaker is preferable.

Stepping up to the $99 LOOOP Ni increases output to 30W and introduces IP67 water resistance. Unlike the Ichi, the Ni is designed to float if dropped into water, making it better suited to pools, beaches and outdoor entertaining.

It also features dynamic RGB lighting, hands-free calling and a power bank function that can be used to recharge other compatible devices.

The $149 LOOOP San pushes output to 50W and is designed for larger indoor and outdoor gatherings. It offers up to 10 hours of battery life, IP67 protection and the ability to float, alongside RGB lighting and hands-free phone functionality.

At the top of the range is the $199 LOOOP Yon, which delivers 100W of output and up to 12 hours of playback. It combines IP67 water resistance and floating capability with dynamic lighting and a power bank function.

The launch takes Uniden further beyond the communications and security products for which the company has traditionally been recognised in Australia.

Portable Bluetooth speakers have increasingly developed into multipurpose lifestyle products, particularly at the larger end of the market. Lighting effects, rugged construction, water resistance and device charging are now commonly being used alongside audio performance to differentiate products designed for outdoor entertaining.

Uniden Head of Marketing Oceania Brad Hales said the range was designed to cover different use cases, from camping and beach trips through to entertaining at home.

The four LOOOP speakers are available in Australia from September through Uniden, priced at $49 for the Ichi, $99 for the Ni, $149 for the San and $199 for the Yon.
