TV Marketing Director Quits Samsung

Leathan, who has been at Samsung for three years, is set to become the brand advertising and marketing communications manager at Caltex.
Prior to joining Samsung Leathan, who has been credited with taking Samsung to #1 in the flat panel TV market, previously worked for Sharp and Philips.
In recent months Samsung Australia has had several senior executives quit the company, including Mark Beard, the former sales manager for the company.
A senior executive at Samsung told ChannelNews today: “Mark will be missed. He is a big loss to the company. We are currently looking for a replacement”.
“During his tenure at Samsung Leathan has managed to dethrone Sony from the #1 TV slot while keeping both Panasonic and LG at bay,” the executive said.
In an exclusive interview with ChannelNews, Leathan said: “It was time to move on. I had nowhere to go in Samsung and when I was approached by Caltex I decided to take the job. It is a totally different role for me outside of the industry. I am looking forward to it.”
Leathan is expected to leave Samsung next week.
