Predator Reveal Updated Notebooks Heading Down Under

Acer’s gaming brand Predator made a big impact on last weekend’s Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) at Qudos Bank Area in Sydney, providing sneak previews of upcoming devices and unveiling its refreshed gaming models for 2019.

Predator, the exclusive PC hardware provider for IEM, showcased their models at the “Predator Fort” right inside the entrance for attendees to check out as soon as they stepped in the doors.

The premium affordable Helios 300 has been revamped with new 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 Ti GPUs.

Boasting 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz memory and up to two PCIe NVMe SSDs in RAID 0 plus a hard drive.

An updated version, first revealed last month the Helios 700 with its HyperDrift forward-sliding keyboard that allows increased cooling of the machine — and also provides a handy palm rest.

However, this sliding keyboard and its heft — weighing under 5kg — bring down its portability considerably.

The Helios 700 is still just in its preview stage, it is not likely to land in Australia anytime soon.

The next iteration of the Triton, the much slimmer and lighter Triton 500 also features 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processors but with more powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPUs featuring its G-SYNC tech for fluid gameplay than the Helios 300.

Also offering up to 32GB DDR4 memory and NVMe PCIe RAID 0 SSDs.

An updated version of the Orion 9000 is also heading to our shores with the latest gen Intel hardware and new RGB lighting available for a customisable look.

The form-shifting Triton 900 (US$3,999) with 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 was also on show and is expected to reach the AU market by the end of 2019.

Its Ezel Aero Hinge allows gamers to flip the screen and use as a flat — albeit very thick — tablet with a 4K Touch display which also features NVIDIA G-Sync.

The Triton also comes with an Xbox wireless receiver, so gamers can play Xbox games on Windows 10 with a console controller.
