IEM 2019, It’s The Biggest Event On The PC Gaming Calendar So Where Was Alienware?

IEM 2019, one of the biggest events on the PC gaming calendar kicked off in Sydney at the weekend and all the big PC gaming brands were there with the exception of Alienware which not good news for their retail partners with both Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi moving to expand their PC gaming offering as sales of gaming consoles slow.

Acer the #1 gaming brand in the world with their Predator range had a massive profile, so did MSI, HP with their OMEN branded PC’s, Lenovo with the all new Legion range as well as ASUS.
The exception was Alienware who once dominated the PC gaming market. It appears they were content with sponsoring a team Vs generating hands on experience among the tens of thousands who attended the event at Homebush.

The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Sydney 2019 playoffs Saw six international teams compete in the event for the lion’s share of a $250,000 (USD) prize pool.

One of the major sponsors at the event Acer showed the new Helios 300 which redefines what a midrange gaming notebook looks like.

The device is built around the new 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, it has onboard an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 Ti GPU.

It also has up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz memory, making it a powerhouse for AAA gaming.

Another Acer offering was the Triton 500 which is slimmed down 15.6-inch gaming notebook with an all-metal chassis.

It features up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPUs, 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, NVMe PCIe RAID 0 SSDs, and up to 32GB DDR4 memory.

With an overclockable and VR-ready CPU, this notebook is powered by NVIDIA G-SYNC technology with the RTX 2080 GPU.

The updated Orion 9000 was available featuring the latest 8thGen Intel processors. It also contains two of NVIDIA’s powerful RTX 2080 Ti GPUs, capable of real-time ray tracing, AI and programmable shading.

Thousands of people attending IEM Sydney 2019 headed to the Predator Fort to experience first hand Acers show floor offerings.
