Oz Background Music Operator Seals Pub, Gym Deal With Spotify
Nightlife Music, a Brisbane-based company specialising in background music, has inked a deal with global streaming giant Spotify that is said to allow Spotify users to listen to their favourite songs in restaurants, bars, gyms, casinos, pubs cruise ships
Dubbed CrowdDJ, the Nightlife app is claimed to operate like a virtual jukebox, allowing users to tap into the playlist of a venue they are visiting and make music selections from their Spotify account wherevever the two lists overlap.
Nightlife already supplies soundtracks used in venues in casinos, the Merivale group of bars and restaurants, pubs operated by Woolworths and Coles, P&O cruises and Snap, Virgin and Fitness Anytime gyms.
Sweden-based Spotify is enthusiastic since it perceives a much bigger future for the concept.
Michael Richardson, Spotify’s head of Asia-Pacific business development, said the company has developed an API to encourage other innovators.
