Optus Slashes NBN Prices, Adds Speed Boosts and Extras for Homes and Small Businesses
Optus has unveiled a major refresh of its NBN offerings, slashing prices, simplifying plans, and delivering faster speeds at no extra cost for eligible customers.
The telco is cutting its consumer and business NBN plans from nine to just four or five core options.
From September, Optus will automatically roll out faster speeds for customers on eligible Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connections, with no price hike.
The upgrades coincide with changes to NBN Co’s wholesale speed tiers. Key improvements include:
-
Home Fast – increasing from 100/20 Mbps to 500/50 Mbps
-
Home Superfast – from 250/25 Mbps to 750/50 Mbps
-
Home Ultrafast – from 1000/50 Mbps to 1000/100 Mbps
Optus customers already on Fast, Superfast, or Ultrafast plans will be upgraded automatically. Those on older fibre technologies like FTTN or FTTC may be eligible for a $0 FTTP upgrade under the NBN fibre program.

To sweeten the deal, Optus is bundling in extras:
-
A $20/month content credit via SubHub on Promo and Ultrafast plans
-
$15/month Bundle Bonus for customers adding an eligible mobile or device plan
-
BYO modem options or Wi-Fi 6 modem at no extra cost with 24-month commitment
For businesses, new NBN plans come with 4G backup, Wi-Fi 6 modems, and fault restoration guarantees, which now come at lower prices.
“We’re all in for small businesses,” said Emma Jensen, Optus VP of Small Business. “These plans are built to keep your business running, even when the unexpected hits.”
