New Pixel 3a Hit By Random Shutdown Bug

Several owners of the new Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL claim the smartphone has a bug which randomly causes it to shutdown throughout the day – evoking deja vu for some previous Pixel owners.

Taking to Reddit and Google’s support forum, some owners affirm they’ve tried a hard factory reset, but the problem persists.

The bug is said to occur unpredictably throughout the day, even when the device is not in use.

According to AndroidPolice, random shutdowns occur for some even when the phone is in Safe Mode.

The news follows a slew of early technical glitches from previous Pixel smartphones – e.g. microphone glitch in the original Pixel phone which lead to a lawsuit.

As previously reported, some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL owners were also affected by a ‘reboot bug’, which Google acknowledged and pledged to fix.

Shortly after the launch of last year’s Pixel 3, some users claimed the smartphone was not saving photos.

Whilst Google is yet to formally acknowledge claims the new Pixel 3a and 3a XL is randomly shutting down, users assert the fault is related to Google-related software, not third-party applications.
