Skullcandy has launched its new flagship Crusher 1080 ANC headphones, marking the brand’s biggest push into the premium over-ear audio market.

The new release sees Skullcandy’s Crusher bass technology team up with Bose audio technologies for the first time.

From the Bose side, the headphones feature QuietControl active noise cancellation, TrueSpatial audio with head tracking, WaveForm audio processing, SpeechClarity voice enhancement and Bose sound tuning.

Wearers of the new headphones will still be able to physically feel low-frequency effects and adjust bass levels using an on-ear dial or the Skullcandy app, with the brand retaining its signature Crusher Sensory Bass technology. Users can also use the app to create a signature experience, with access to equalizer settings, customisable button assignments, firmware updates, and controls for the Bose-powered audio features.

The headphones feature improved clarity and less distortion owing to redesigned drivers, while maintaining the brand’s bass-heavy signature sound.

Battery life is rated at up to 60 hours with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) off, or 50 hours with ANC enabled. A speedy 10-minute fast charge delivers up to four hours of playback. The headphones can also handily fold flat for storage and come with a travel bag,

The Crusher 1080 ANC also has a host of additional premium features such as Bluetooth 5.3, LE Audio, Auracast support, multipoint pairing, wear detection and a low-latency mode for gaming and video.

Carrying an Australian RRP of $399.99, the Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANC is positioned below flagship noise-cancelling headphones from brands such as Bose, Sony and Apple while making a significant move from the Skullcandy brand into the premium audio market.

The new Skullcandy headphones are available in a suite of colours: Black, Candy, Primer, and Cement.
