Beats appears to be stepping up promotion of an unreleased set of headphones, with several footballers now spotted wearing the unknown model during the FIFA World Cup.

The headphones first came to light through a filing with the US Federal Communications Commission in May. Not long afterwards, Spain’s Lamine Yamal was seen wearing them, sparking speculation about a forthcoming launch. Since then, the mystery headphones have also appeared on the United States’ Antonee Robinson and South Korea’s Lee Kang-in, adding further weight to suggestions that an official announcement may be approaching.

Recent appearances have also provided a better glimpse of the design. Yamal was previously photographed with a pale pink version, while Robinson and Kang-in have been seen using variants with white headbands matched with either dark blue or lime green earcups.

The contrasting colour combinations could indicate that Beats is preparing to offer greater personalisation than it has with recent releases. Most modern Beats headphones have been sold in uniform colour schemes, making these multi-tone designs particularly noticeable.

Photographs from the tournament have also delivered the clearest view yet of the headphones’ construction. The over-ear design includes relatively slim earcups connected to curved headband supports. Images further suggest the presence of USB-C charging, integrated controls and several built-in sensors.

At this stage, technical specifications and features remain largely under wraps. Should the headphones be intended as a successor to an existing product, the Beats Studio Pro is widely considered the most likely candidate. That model arrived in 2023, whereas the Beats Solo 4 joined the range more recently.

Beats has frequently relied on high-profile athletes and entertainers to generate interest in upcoming products before their official unveiling. The company seems to be employing a similar strategy once again, with repeated sightings throughout the World Cup pointing towards something more significant than an experimental prototype.

Apple has not publicly confirmed the existence of the new headphones. Nevertheless, with an increasing number of professional players wearing them during major international fixtures, it may only be a matter of time before Beats formally introduces the device and reveals its full details.
