Motorola could be preparing to re-enter the premium smartwatch market, with newly leaked images revealing what appears to be a flagship wearable designed to compete with devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The renders, first shared by The Mac Observer, showcase a device believed to be called the Moto Watch Ultra. While Motorola has yet to officially announce the watch, its design and hardware suggest the company is targeting the high-end segment after years away from the flagship wearable market.

Motorola was one of the early pioneers of Android smartwatches with the launch of the Moto 360 in 2014. Its circular display helped popularise the round smartwatch design at a time when many competing models featured square screens. Although Motorola released several follow-up models, the company gradually shifted its focus away from premium wearables as Apple, Samsung and Google strengthened their positions.

The leaked Moto Watch Ultra appears to feature a 46 mm stainless steel case with a round display surrounded by a numbered bezel. A prominent rotating crown is positioned on the side alongside an additional physical button, giving the watch a more rugged appearance.

Images of the rear casing also point to a comprehensive feature set. The watch is expected to include built-in GPS, LTE connectivity, IP68-rated dust and water resistance, and a 5 ATM water resistance rating suitable for swimming and water activities up to 50 metres.

A large optical sensor array on the back suggests Motorola is placing a strong emphasis on health and fitness tracking. The watch also appears to use a four-pin magnetic charging system, indicating it may rely on a proprietary charging dock instead of standard wireless charging.

Motorola has not confirmed any technical specifications, battery capacity, software platform or launch timeline. Pricing has also not been announced.

Despite the lack of official details, the design indicates Motorola is aiming well beyond the entry-level and mid-range smartwatch categories. If the leaked hardware accurately reflects the final product, the Moto Watch Ultra could mark the company’s return to the premium wearable market more than a decade after helping establish Android smartwatches as a mainstream category.
