Macquarie Data Centre Build To Create Jobs
Macquarie Telecom Group said it will build its largest ever data centre in Sydney. The company said the 32-megawatt facility will create over 1200 jobs in construction, engineering, cybersecurity and other areas, with an initial investment of about $78 million.
IC3 Super West will house corporates, government and multinationals while enhancing NSW’s cybersec infrastructure and capabilities. The data centre will dovetail with the company’s Sovereign Cyber Security Centre of Excellence backed by the NSW Government’s Jobs Plus Program.
Minister for Jobs, Investment Stuart Ayres said the Centre of Excellence, and the IC3 Super West will be located within the Macquarie Park Innovation District, and will create immediate jobs.
“The planning, build and deployment of cyber security infrastructure for the Centre will create more than 1,200 immediate indirect jobs and an initial 31 highly skilled specialist roles to run and operate the centre by 2024,” Ayres said.
