LinkedIn Links 8 Million Aussies

The LinkedIn professional database – soon to be part of Microsoft – says it now has 8 million members in Australia, or close to one third of the total population.

Telstra, Commonwealth Bank and National Australia Bank have the most employees on LinkedIn Australia, the service says.

“Process and project management,” “customer service” and “business development and relationship management” are the most common skills for Australian professionals, LinkedIn says. (Journos and PR operators, like garbage collectors, appear to be well down the list.)

The USA, UK and India are said to be the top three countries that Aussie members connect to outside of Australia. Interestingly, there are more than 15,000 connections between Australia and Barbados; no figures have been supplied for links to the Cayman Islands
