Kaleidescape has introduced a new AI-powered discovery tool, called kAI, to its Movie Store platform, offering a more intuitive way for its customers to discover films.

Kaleidescape is a Californian company that sells high-end home cinema hardware.

It offers cinephiles dedicated servers that store films in studio-master quality, and players that deliver them to projectors and sound systems with maximum fidelity.

The new feature, now live on the web Movie Store, utilises generative AI to interpret natural-language prompts, rather than relying on conventional keyword searches.

A user might type “What’s the film with the zombies?” and kAI will serve up tailored suggestions.

Results can be further refined with conversational follow-ups, such as “Are any of these set in Australia?” or “Are any appropriate for children?”

Kaleidescape aims to make choosing a movie to watch as frictionless as possible

CEO Tayloe Stansbury said kAI “represents our commitment to transforming movie discovery through cutting-edge AI technology,” adding that it marks a step forward in delivering “smarter, more engaging experiences”.

The new tool builds on Kaleidescape’s earlier innovation, the Cover Art Shuffle, which clusters similar titles together to aid browsing.

Kaleidescape’s kAI aims to cut through streaming fatigue by making search feel like a conversation.

That’s a trend likely to spread across the broader home-entertainment sector.
