IFA 2025: JBL Launches Portable Grip Speaker Shaped Like A Drinks Can
JBL has expanded its portable speaker range with the Grip, a compact and durable Bluetooth model designed with a slim drinks can-inspired shape.
Announced at IFA Berlin, the Grip combines a bold 16W output with JBL Pro Sound and AI Sound Boost, promising punchy bass and clear highs without distortion.
The upright form factor isn’t just for looks, it makes the speaker easier to grab, hang, or slot into a backpack side pocket. It also includes a rear rope loop.
Durability is a key selling point. The Grip is IP68-rated, making it water, dust, and drop-proof, while the rugged build is designed to handle outdoor adventures.

For those looking to personalise their setup, a built-in ambient light panel on the back can be customised via the JBL Portable app.
On the connectivity front, Auracast support allows multiple Grip units to sync together or pair up for stereo playback, giving users more flexibility in how they listen.
The speaker offers 12 hours of playtime, with an extra two hours available through the Playtime Boost mode.

Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at Harman, said the Grip builds on JBL’s long-standing leadership in the portable speaker category.
“The all-new JBL Grip continues to push the category forward with proof that we’re not standing still as we deliver great sound at a very affordable price,” said Olesen.
The Grip is available to pre-order now for US$99.95, with a global rollout from September 28. Australian pricing and release date will be confirmed soon.
JBL’s higher-spec Flip 7 currently retails at around A$170.
