IFA 2019: Nokia 3310 To Make A Comeback?

Nineteen years after Nokia launched the Nokia 3310, we could be seeing its rebirth at IFA 2019 in Berlin, according to tweets from HMD Global’s chief product officer.

Juho Sarvikas’ first teaser, first posted back on August 31, showed a video of a cracked ground and the date of September 5, along with the comment, “The ultimate sidekick for your adventures”.

Sarvikas took to Twitter again recently for the phone’s anniversary and said the company “will pay the legend the ultimate homage” and added some Nokia 3310 memes (paying tribute to the device’s robustness and durability) alongside the tweet.

This isn’t the first time the company has played the nostalgia card, with Nokia relaunching a 3310 variant in 2017, which added a colour display and dual-sim capabilities.

They have also done the same thing with a handful of their other “classic” phones, most notably with the re-release of the Nokia 8110 “banana phone” with 4G support.

Nokia is also expected to announce the new Nokia 6.2 and 7.2 during the consumer electronics trade show.
