HTC Exodus Blockchain Smartphone To Launch This Month
Following our earlier reports, struggling smartphone manufacturer, HTC, has indicated via their Instagram page that its blockchain-powered smartphone will launch as early as this month.
HTC has had the blockchain-based smartphone in development for several months now and will reportedly feature a universal wallet, with hardware support for cryptocurrencies and decentralised apps.
HTC Vive Founder, Phil Chen, Exodus previously asserted that a smartphone like Exodus with a cryptocurrency wallet will provide the most secure wallet on the market.
However, he added that the device will initially target a “niche” audience and will be priced similarly to the world’s first blockchain powered smartphone, Sirin Labs’ Finney, at around US$1000.
It is unclear whether the Exodus will help the struggling smartphone manufacturer who only last week was reported to have sales down 80.71% from a year earlier and 9.58% lower than in August.
These numbers reflect the fact that HTC is facing increasing competition in the global smartphone market and is therefore unlikely that it could improve its sales anytime soon, even with the release of the Exodus.
According to an Instagram post by the Taiwanese smartphone company, the HTC Exodus blockchain phone is going to launch on October 22.
