Hold On To Your Earplugs: Qld Beckons Drone Invasion

In a move that’s unlikely to be challenged by other states, the drone-happy state of Queensland has committed to developing hundreds of “drone zones” for commercial tests of aerial drone technology.

This follows last year’s brilliant decision by the Brisbane City Council to declare no fewer than 10 city parks as zones for recreational flying of drones. Just what park wanderers want when stretching out for a quiet snooze or some bird-watching exercises, eh?

And now coming up is the World of Drones Congress, to be held in Brisbane.

Queensland has an opportunity to become the “world-leader in drones,” according to a State Government document. Not hard, perhaps – after all, who else would want the title? We’re waiting to see which state will be first to declare itself drone-free.
