New Belkin AC Routers + Extenders Carry More Wi Fi Devices Than Ever Before.
![]() Have you ever been unable to connect to a Wi-Fi router at home or when out and about because too many Wi-Fi devices are already connected?
If your router is so old that you don’t remember what it looks like, or it came free with your ISP account from years ago, or won’t let your latest tablet connect because you’ve already got too many devices on your Wi-Fi network, it’s likely time for an upgrade.
You may also already have a great Wi-Fi modem router, but are experience dead spots in various parts of your home or office. If so, a Wi-Fi range extender may also be up your alley.
While every modem, router and range extender manufacturer will have products to suit your need, Belkin has just launched its latest range of 802.11 AC Dual-Band modems, routers and range extenders to tempt you into upgrading your Wi-Fi connectivity, because so many homes now house more devices that people!
Its first new product is the Belkin AC 1750 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Modem Router, which retails for AUD $299.95. It has an impressive list of features, operating up to 4.3x faster than Wi-Fi ‘N’ technology, at speeds of up to 450Mbps on 2.4GHz WiFi and even faster still at up to 1.3Gbps on the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency. Thanks to its “Dual-Band” and “Intellistream QoS” (Quality of Service) technology, you’re promised ultra fast video streaming and online gaming speeds, even when connected to multiple devices.
There’s a USB 3.0 and separate USB 2.0 port, four port Gigabit Ethernet, a “Simple Start” feature that lets you set things up via your PC, smartphone or tablet, Parental Control software from Norton, DLNA media streaming compatibility and “exclusive” MultiBeam antenna technology designed to provide “maximum coverage virtual anywhere in the home”.
Then there’s the Router-only Belkin AC 1750, a Dual-Band Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Router, which has the same features save for the ADSL2+ modem, and it retails for $249.95.
The next device is Belkin’s N600 Plugin Dual-Band Wi-Fi G/N Range Extender. Retailing for $99.95, it expands your home’s wireless network, couple with a “compact, elegant design”, which Belkin hopes will complement your home’s d?cor.
Offering high performance speeds of up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi frequency and up to 300Mbps on the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency, it has external antennas promising superior range for strong, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the home. It also features the same Simple Start tech for easy set up from PCs, tablets and smartphones.
A particularly nifty capability of the N600 is its support of “Single SSD technology” when extending your existing router’s SSID. This is designed to enable seamless wireless connectivity throughout the home or office without creating a separate wireless network name – and the hassle of needing to switch Wi-Fi networks.
There’s also “crossband technology” built-in, which promises to increase speeds vs. normal range extenders by switching to the least congested band, reducing wireless interference and increasing performance.
Finally, Belkin has the cheaper N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender for $69.95, which nevertheless promises to eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots and expand a home network’s wireless connection up to an “additional 5,000 square feet”. It also has the Simple Start feature, and conveniently, its compact design “allows for easy placement that in most cases won’t block the second socket in most wall outlets.”
Dan Hall, Belkin’s local product marketing manager said that: “The requirements for the modern Australian home continue to evolve, with many different devices accessing the network with expectations of interruption-free work or leisure activities such as streaming HD movies or gaming.
“The evolution of AC technology, combined with user-friendly features and proprietary technology, makes the AC 1750 an exciting solution for the modern Australian home. Additionally, our new range extenders will ensure whole-of-home coverage, eliminating dead spots and a set-up that takes only minutes,” he concluded.
