Google Docs And Drive UI Starts Roll Out

The roll out of an updated UI for Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides has started, with the intention to fit into its Material Design 3 language.

While the apps will continue to work in the same way, Google say they should be “simplified”, with improvements and additions, but less clutter.

A report from February, when this was first announced, noted it was similar to Gmail’s updated look. This, of course, makes sense as Google say they are trying to “streamline core collaboration journeys across our products”.

As a result, you may start noticing things look different when writing or working on a spreadsheet.

Google say they will be rolling out updates through the next 15 days for users on rapid release domains, and they should have hit all users by March 25.

It will come to all Workspace and personal users, as well as those who still use the Legacy G Suite Basic and Business plans.
