Gamers Sent Into A Frenzy As PlayStation Network Goes Down
PlayStation users worldwide were left disappointed yesterday as the consoles online service, PSN (PlayStation Network) was down. Users faced issues starting Wednesday evening when trying to access online multiplayer games as many users PlayStation Plus subscription was not being recognized.
PlayStation Plus is the subscription service offered to owners of the Sony consoles enables users to access online services and multiplayer games.
Users noted that games that required the PlayStation Plus subscription were inaccessible while games that had free online were fine to play. Other issues arose with services such as PlayStation Now and the PlayStation Store.
Outages reported by Is The Service Down late last night stated that 64% of reported issues are related to sign-in while 28% are to do with online play.
The issue was quickly under investigation by several major game development studios as well as PlayStation themselves and acknowledged the issues on social media. The PlayStation Japan Twitter posted that PSN “may not be available at this time” but that it was “conducting an investigation and restoration work”.

The issue has since been resolved and PlayStation users are now once again able to access games online.
