Apple Buys Finance Startup Credit Kudos

Apple has bought London-based credit scoring startup Credit Kudos, in what seems to be part of the company’s increasing movement into the payment technology sector.

Credit Kudos runs credit checks for individuals, as well as analysing banking data for loan applicants.

Apple weren’t forthcoming with any future plans for the company, but look likely to roll these features into its existing payments ecosystem.

“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time,” said an Apple spokesperson. “We generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”

No terms of agreement have been made public.

Apple launched its Apple Card in the US in 2019, and announced plans to launch its Square-competitor, Tap To Pay on the iPhone, later this year. This latter move came after the company paid A$133 million for Canadian startup Mobeewave, who pioneered the technology.
