Apple Limits iPhone Duo Orders As Demand Pushes Deliveries Into 2027
Apple has reportedly introduced a two-device purchase limit for its new iPhone Duo as overwhelming demand for the company’s first foldable smartphone continues to push delivery dates well into 2027.
The iPhone Duo has attracted enormous interest since pre-orders opened on October 16, with initial stock selling out within minutes and delivery estimates quickly slipping into January next year.
Now, Apple appears to be taking additional steps to manage demand, restricting customers to a maximum of two iPhone Duo devices through its online stores.
According to MacRumors, the restriction has been spotted across Apple’s online stores in the US, UK, Japan and Spain, covering every available colour and storage configuration.
There’s no confirmation about whether purchases of the device have been restricted in Australia.
Customers attempting to purchase three or more devices are greeted with a message explaining that orders are limited to two units per customer. The restriction applies regardless of whether buyers select different colours or storage capacities.
Apple has not officially explained the decision, although the move could be designed to discourage scalpers and resellers from purchasing large quantities of the highly sought-after foldable.
Resale listings have already appeared on eBay, with some sellers asking more than US$5,000 for the device as buyers scramble to secure stock ahead of its official release.
It remains unclear exactly when Apple introduced the purchase restriction or how long it intends to keep the limit in place.
The supply situation is unlikely to improve immediately, with Apple’s online stores in several markets now displaying estimated delivery dates of January 22, 2027, for new orders.

That means customers who missed the initial pre-order window could face a wait of around three months before receiving their new foldable iPhone.
There is some hope for buyers, however, with reports suggesting certain customers have seen their delivery estimates move forward after placing an order.
Those looking to secure an iPhone Duo sooner may also have better luck checking availability through mobile carriers or monitoring Apple’s online store for cancellations and additional stock.
For now, the combination of strong demand and apparently limited supply suggests Apple’s first foldable smartphone could remain difficult to obtain for months, particularly for customers hoping to purchase one before Christmas.
