128GB Build To Order Flash Drive

Kingston Technology introduced what it is calling the world’s first 128GB USB flash drive but the only problem is that if you want it you will have to wait while they build it with the device set to cost over $650 in Australia.

The US storage Company have also announced the DataTraveler 200 (DT200) features password protection, a cap-less design and a five-year warranty. It will also be offered in 32GB ($US120 suggested retail) and 64GB capacities ($US213); the 128GB version is built-to-order only, said the company, and will retail for $US546.

A CE retail analyst said “This is all about cashflow. Kingston is a small memory player and for them to dump several thousands units into the market would cost a signig=ficant amount of money. This is the next best way to market this product”.
