The survey polled 759 companies: 548 large outfits and 211 small companies. Large companies are defined as those with more than $10 million annual turnover.
Despite the current economic gloom, large companies are still forecasting wage increases of 3.5 per cent for 2009-10 albeit less than the 4.3 per cent average increase reported in 2008-09, it found. There was no surprise in another finding: that the biggest winners are likely to be senior executives and the biggest losers salaried staff.
IT execs should continue to do better than their colleagues in other industries in the coming financial year. “The largest pay increases over the next 12 months are forecast for the electronics/IT industry (4.8 per cent),”AIM says.
