Facebook Users Worldwide Locked Out Of Accounts
Without any sign of an explanation or warning, Facebook users all over the world woke up to their accounts disabled. Those trying to access their locked accounts were simply met with a message that said “Your Facebook account was disabled because it did not follow our Community Standards. This decision can’t be reversed.”
Meta, the parent company of Facebook has said that investigations into the issue are underway. Andy Stone, the companies Policy Communications Director tweeted regarding the issue.
We’re aware that some users are experiencing issues accessing their Facebook accounts and we are working to resolve them as quickly as possible.

The issue has reportedly since been fixed and account access has been restored. However, there has been no news revealing what caused the issue or how many accounts were affected.
Earlier today, a technical issue caused a small number of people to have trouble accessing Facebook. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Despite the quick fix, responses on Twitter demanded answers and complained about the service.
Hi Andy, as a former journalist, PR person, and student of business continuity — I believe the consumers and users deserve to know more. The impact of the “issue” is deeper than an apology. What is the issue? How did it happen? What steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again?

As of December 2020, Australia had 17,680,000 Facebook users, just under 70% of the population. Facebook have established themselves as a service people are now dependent on, meaning outages are understandably met with frustration, as peoples entire lives and schedules are affected.
