Facebook Messenger Ads Launch Worldwide
Facebook has expanded the launch of advertising within its Messenger app to businesses around the world.
After previously testing Messenger ads in Australia and Thailand, the expansion will now allow marketers to create “meaningful connections” with over 1.2 billion people that use Messenger every month according to Facebook.
Ads will appear to users in the home tab of the Messenger mobile app, and will direct user to a website or Messenger conversation when clicked on.
David Jones’ general manager of marketing and communications Michiel Tops said Messenger ads had helped optimise the department store’s advertising spend and driven its businesses results further.
“Messenger ads have been a powerful addition to our digital advertising campaigns, helping us reach our customers where they are already active and engaged,” Tops said.
A Facebook spokesperson told Mumbrella that the content of messages within the Messenger app will not be scanned for use in ad targeting.
