EXCLUSIVE: Amazon Prime Looking To Take On Netflix In OZ

According to Amazon sources in Europe the Company is looking at the concept of launching their Amazon Prime video streaming service in Australia.

An Amazon source said that the Company has “seen the success of Netflix in Australia” and they believe that they can compete head on with the US Company who in 14 months have attracted over 1.8 Million paying subscribers and over 5 Million views across Australia.

Recently the Company turned on a monthly subscription option for its bundle of Prime services in the USA. This includes Prime Video which is a head on competitor to Netflix.

The Amazon source said that they believe that Amazon can deliver “more content than Netflix”.amazon_prime-970-80

Recently Amazon offered US customers a separate monthly subscription just for its TV and movie collection, the cost was $12 a month.

Among the content that is available on Amazon is the highly popular motoring show Top Gear, the Emmy-nominated Amazon Original kid’s series, “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street,” season 5 of USA Network’s hit series “Suits” and season 3 of Syfy’s “Defiance.” Prime Video also the complete collection of “Star Trek,” and Mr. Holmes.

Also coming to Prime Video in the US this year is Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 joining other Tarantino classics already available on Prime Video including Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, From Dusk Till Dawn and Four Rooms.amazon-instant-video-logo

Recently PC Advisor in the UK did a comparison of Netflix Vs Amazon Prime Video, they concluded that Amazon was the winner thanks to the extra benefits you get with a Prime subscription. They said that Amazon is the only service that allows offline viewing and has 4K at no extra cost. Despite these extras, it’s cheaper than Netflix. For many, it should be the obvious choice.

They added that, if you can afford to subscribe to both then you will get the best of both worlds but if you can’t then your decision should come down to what device(s) you want to watch on and what content you want to watch. Make use of those free trials to discover which you prefer.
