Dell has expanded its tablet portfolio to include the new Dell Latitude 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet, a device designed to endure harsh conditions and looks like something you’d see in a Bond movie.

With a 10.1-inch FHD+ screen with a 16:10 ratio and 1000 nits of brightness, the Dell 7030 appears vibrant in colour and could potentially survive in a variety of environments.

According to Dell, the 7030 is ideal for first responders because it will still function even in locations with extreme heat, temperature, weather, or road hazards like shock and vibration.

It also has an IP-65 rating and MIL-STD 810 certification, weighs only 2.2 pounds, and has a hot-swappable battery option for longer performance.

Designed for professionals in mining, manufacturing, field services, transportation, government, and public safety organizations, the 7030 has a powerful 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. It has Iris Xe graphics integrated into i5 and i7 models. The tablet also has up to 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 2TB of NVMe SSD storage.

The device has Wi-Fi 6E, GPS, and 5G connectivity. There’s also TPM 2.0 ControlVault, a touch fingerprint reader, camera privacy shutters, and an infrared camera that supports Windows Hello facial recognition to secure sensitive data.

To customise the 7030, users can add Dell accessories at checkout, including items like a detachable keyboard, passive stylus, rotating hand strap, barcode scanner, RJ-45, universal audio jack, USB-A ports, and a rigid handle.

Dell has said that the Latitude 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet will be released worldwide later this year, and the price will be revealed closer to the launch date.
