CES 2023: Sony Puts TVs On The Back Burner

It appears that TVs are not a high priority at Sony with the Japanese Company looking to the electric car industry and virtual reality for future growth.

They won’t be winning any accolades at CES this year

It’s often been muted that if Sony was not in the movie TV and content business, they would have got out of the TV business a long time ago after losing billions in the consumer TV market.

At CES 2023 Sony is NOT releasing any new TV’s a move that has surprised many with mutterings that the writing is on the cards for Sony TVs with the business making more money, selling small amounts of premium Pro TV’s and top end projectors for the specialist channel than consumer TV’s.

This year Sony is set to use CES 2023 use the event as yet another showcase for the upcoming PlayStation VR2 virtual reality device and their electric car component offerings.

It’s right there in the image for Sony’s CES YouTube stream. Sony has also teased automotive news for the press conference.

In a statement from Sony Electronics provided by spokesperson Chloe Canta, the company confirmed that “Sony will not be sharing any TV details during CES 2023.
