CES 2023: LG To Roll Out Wireless TV With Seperate Comms Box
The LG press conference at CES 2023 kicked off with a pitch about the South Koreans sustainability and save the planet ambitions, and then came the real news with the roll out of a 97”-inch Wireless OLED TV, and a refrigerator with see-through, LED doors that has 190,000 light capabilities.
As for content it was announced that Paramount Plus, the CBS streaming service that missed out on getting both the AFL and cricket rights in Australia, is coming to LG TVs on the LG WebOS platform.
The rollout will begin in Ireland, according to Tom Ryan, CEO of streaming at Paramount there was no mention of Australia.
The new TV has a separate box similar to the Samsung Hub, that you have to plug in a thumb drive into, once operational and on a network the audio and video streams are delivered wirelessly.
LG claims that unlike typical conventional TVs, where input ports for connecting external devices are located on the rear or sides, the M3 comes with a separate Zero Connect box that sends video and audio signals wirelessly to the cinematic LG 97-inch screen.
Because it can be placed away from the TV, the Zero Connect box helps to create a cleaner, distraction-free viewing environment and gives users greater freedom to arrange their space.
The box comes with multiple ports for plugging in commonly used HDMI devices, such as cable/satellite set-top boxes and gaming consoles and can also connect wirelessly with compatible soundbars for rich, powerful audio and additional convenience.
Along with offering users more freedom when curating their space, the LG M3 and its Zero Connect box allows users to easily install the new LG OLED TV without entangled cables. What’s more, the sleek minimalism of the One Wall Design of the LG 97-inch TV removes wires that can disturb users enjoying their viewing experiences.
And for those who like to party around their fridge the new LG Refrigerator with Mood Up has LED doors with 190,000 colours that can change in time to music.
The kids are going to love it.
LG also showed a video that outlined its smart home ThinQ capabilities.
The app which appears to have been redesigned operates similar to Samsung SmartThings, is Matter compliant and allows users to integrate all their appliances via the LG app.
One feature, enables owners to set a new cycle for your washing machine from your TV, so why bother about exercise.
Some 2023 LG TVs will enable users to view their security cameras on their TV or who is at the front door via a doorbell camera.
More to follow.
