ByteDance To Make Smartphone

As if the smartphone market isn’t crowded enough, Chinese social media firm ByteDance is developing a new phone, following a deal with device maker Smartisan Technology.

ByteDance said a smartphone had been part of Smartisan’s development plans before the deal.

The phone is said to have been in development for seven months.

Earlier this year ByteDance acquired a set of patents from Smartisan, and some Smartisan employees also transferred to ByteDance, as part of what the latter company called a “normal flow of talent”.
