Samsung could be gearing up for a major expansion of its foldable smartphone range in 2027, with a new leak suggesting the company is planning to release as many as six Galaxy Z devices next year.

According to tipster TheGalox, the South Korean technology giant is reportedly developing a broader lineup that could include the Galaxy Z Slide, Galaxy Z TriFold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro, Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Flip 9.

If the information proves accurate, it would represent Samsung’s most ambitious foldable smartphone launch strategy yet, potentially offering consumers a wider selection of devices across multiple designs and price categories.

The leak also suggests Samsung is focusing on several key improvements across the range, including longer battery life, slimmer profiles and reduced weight.

These changes could help address some of the compromises traditionally associated with foldable smartphones, particularly their thickness and weight compared with conventional handsets.

Among the six rumoured devices, the Galaxy Z Slide could be the most significant departure from Samsung’s existing smartphone designs.

Rather than relying on a conventional folding mechanism, the device is expected to feature a sliding display that expands outward, allowing users to increase the available screen space when needed.

Samsung has previously showcased similar expandable display technology at events such as Mobile World Congress, although it remains unclear how the technology would be implemented in a commercial smartphone.

Earlier reports had suggested Samsung’s first rollable handset might not arrive until 2028, meaning the Galaxy Z Slide’s inclusion in the proposed 2027 lineup should be treated cautiously.

Samsung could also introduce a more extensive range of book-style foldables, with three Galaxy Z Fold 9 models reportedly under consideration.

Alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 9, the company could offer Pro and Ultra versions, potentially differentiating the devices through display sizes, specifications and premium features.

This would bring Samsung’s foldable strategy closer to its established Galaxy S smartphone range, which offers multiple models targeting different users and budgets.

Another potential addition is the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, which would build on Samsung’s multi-folding smartphone concept. The device is reportedly being positioned as the first model in the company’s 2027 foldable launch schedule.

The Galaxy Z Flip 9 would complete the lineup, continuing Samsung’s clamshell foldable design with expected improvements to its hardware and overall usability.

Expanding the Galaxy Z family to six models could allow Samsung to target a much broader segment of the smartphone market, from consumers looking for compact foldables to those seeking larger, tablet-like displays.

However, Samsung has not confirmed the reported devices, their specifications or any release dates, and the company’s plans could change before 2027.

For now, the leak suggests Samsung may be preparing to take a more aggressive approach to foldable smartphones, potentially making next year one of the biggest in the Galaxy Z range’s history.
