Melbourne-based cinema equipment maker Rigid.PRO has begun shipping its OMNIA Universal Cinema Rig Base, a new system that transforms any mirrorless camera into a professional-grade cinematic rig.

After two years of development and feedback from filmmakers, the OMNIA offers universal compatibility, working with any camera or cage, or even without a cage.

Its quick-release base, designed around the Arca-Swiss standard, allows creators to move seamlessly between handheld, gimbal and tripod setups in seconds.

Unlike conventional rigs, OMNIA accommodates cameras with non-articulating screens.

A sliding base plate ensures users can access flip-out screens, a feature particularly beneficial for Blackmagic and Sigma camera owners.

The rig also leaves the camera’s hot shoe fully accessible, allowing full use of XLR audio adapters.

“We’ve built a system that works with virtually any camera body, eliminating the need for new rigs with each upgrade,” said Jake Smith, General Manager of Rigid.PRO, which was founded in 2023.

Constructed from solid aluminum billets and anodised for durability, the OMNIA is available in black, red and blue and features four high-current D-tap outlets, a master power switch, an LCD battery voltage display, V-Mount compatibility, multiple mounting points and a universal screen protector for flip-out displays.

The OMNIA Universal Cinema Rig Base retails for A$549 and ships worldwide via DHL Express.

The package includes the universal base, quick-release mechanism, screen protector, mounting hardware and documentation. Optional modular accessories, including cable management systems and cheese plate extensions, are also available.
