Apple Working On 20-Inch Foldable iPad/MacBook Hybrid
While the world talks about an upcoming iPhone Fold, it seems Apple plans to use its recently filed patents for a much bigger product.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, always a reliable source when it comes to leaks and rumours, reports that Apple is exploring a 20-inch device which seems to be an iPad/MacBook hybrid.
Gurman reports the new device might have include a dual screen, virtual keyboard or even attach to a separate keyboard.
“The company could go with a foldable 20-inch screen attached to a physical keyboard or just have one side of the display serving as a virtual keyboard,” Gurman writes.
“I’m told Apple has indeed been exploring a dual-screen, foldable MacBook/iPad hybrid that would take the second approach. It would trade in the physical keyboard and trackpad for a fully touch-screen base”
DCSS analyst Ross Young also reported that Apple’s supply chain orders suggest such a product is likely between 2025 and 2027.
Of course, this is all speculative, and years away yet. But given Samsung’s new S22 Ultra, which is like a Note/smartphone hybrid, it’s likely this is more than mere conjecture.
