Apple is planning to introduce a health coach powered by artificial intelligence, as well as an emotion-tracking to its Apple Watch.

The new service is codenamed Quartz, and is “designed to keep users motivated to exercise, improve eating habits and help them sleep better”, according to Bloomberg, who cite the usual “people with knowledge of the project.”

Quartz will use the wealth of health data captured by the Apple Watch to tailor a coaching session and training schedule.

Apple is also working on blood pressure monitoring, glucose level tracking, and various other health features.

According to Bloomberg, Quartz will be its own app, and cost a monthly fee to access. Apple also plans to roll out its first iPad version of the iPhone health app later this year.

The company’s upcoming mixed reality headset, set to be revealed in June at the company’s WWDC gathering, will also be incorporated in Apple’s overall health push.

This is all dependant on the Apple Watch still being on the market in the near future.

Given the ongoing IP fight with Masimo, and the very real possibility that Apple will be forced to pay billions for the allegedly stolen tech or remove its watch from sale, the Californian giant might be forced to reconsider its aggressive Apple Watch health push.

Masimo is asking for a $4.4 billion payout, plus whatever IP deal the two companies strike for the continued use of the allegedly stolen technology.
