Kmart Issues Urgent Smart Watch Recall
A digital smart watch sold through Kmart Australia and intended for children has been recalled, over safety fears.
The Anko Kids Digital Watch (SKUs 71772424, 71772417) have been recalled by Product Safety Australia, as the product does not comply with the mandatory safety standard for products containing button batteries.

“The battery compartment is not adequately secured so button batteries may be accessible,” the recall reads.
“There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button batteries and ingest them.”

Customers are urged to immediately cease using the watch and store it out of the reach of children, then return it to the nearest Kmart or Khub store for a full refund.
This is the latest in a long line of products recalled due to inadequate housing of button batteries. The ACCC is focusing on these products in a crackdown aimed at reducing the injuries caused by these dangerous, small items.
