A Taiwanese company that supplies Apple with the charging cable for its iPhone series will be out of action for at least two months, adding more supply chain pressures on the Californian giant.

Taiwanese supplier Foxlink suffered a massive fire in its factory in the Chittoor district of India’s Andhra Pradesh state, and won’t be fully operational for at least two months.

There were no casualties in the fire, but four major production lines were completely damaged.

Foxlink told the Taiwan stock exchange it is investigating the cause, and “working hard to resume production.”

In the meantime, Foxlink will “discuss solutions for the production capacity affected before resuming work.”

This isn’t the best new for Apple, following two years of supply chain chaos, and the resultant move to shift production out of China and into India.

This comes after reports that Apple is readying a new USB-C cable with super-fast charging for the iPhone, aimed at circumnavigating EU rules that force tech companies to use universal charging cables.

It is not known whether Foxlink was involved in the production of these cables.
