Amazon Launches In-Car Ring Camera

Amazon has introduced a new in-car dashcam to its lineup of Ring Cameras at CES 2023.

The Ring Car Cam features dual-facing HD cameras that can capture both inside and outside the window and includes night-vision recording.

You’ll be notified of active break-ins. You can also speak to intruders by the built-in mic- just like you would using their home cameras.

Drivers will be able to set their GPS location to “home” and will be notified if the car moves away from their regular parking spot. It’s also easy to precisely locate the parking spot of your car when you’re out.

It goes without saying that there’s Alexa compatibility; with the Traffic Stop feature drivers will be able to say “Alexa Record” and capture video for up to 20 minutes with footage stored locally on the device.

You’ll need a subscription for cloud storage, however.

The camera connects to the car’s OBD-II port and includes LTE connectivity to ensure constant connectivity with the Ring app. For full functionality, you will need to go ahead with a subscription.

There is no news on its Australian release yet.
