Alphabet Considering Google and Nest Merge to Combat Amazon

The competition between Google and Amazon is heating up as according to The Wall Street Journal Alphabet, Google’s parent company is in talks to merge Nest and Google teams to create a competitive hardware division to combat online behemoth Amazon.

Alphabet is considering the merger due to Amazon going into security products such as cameras – a Nest specialty.

Ausdroid says there have been signs of a cohesion between Google and Nest where Nest was a part of the ‘Made by Google’ event showcasing the Google Assistant integration with the Nest Cam IQ and the Nest Hello Doorbell.

Ausdroid also points out the merging of Google and Nest would narrow focus as well as improve supply chain for both Nest and Google.

At the moment Google and Amazon are competing over smart speakers i.e. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

No official word has been made on when and if this is happening.
