AirPod Speakers Australia-Bound

Apple’s long-delayed – and sometimes controversial – AirPod wireless headphones should be available in Australia before Christmas, CDN has been told.

The natty little ‘phones – regarded by some as an ideal Christmas present – were announced in September with a release promised for October. But for unknown reasons – but presumably to do with production – they just haven’t made it into the market.

A new presser issued by Apple HQ in the US on Tuesday said the AirPods would be available immediately through its Web site and should arrive at Apple stores, resellers and “select carriers” next week.

The Australian situation wasn’t at that stage clear. However an Apple Oz spokeslady yesterday assured CDN the ‘Pods would indeed be available via Apple Stores and online in time for Christmas, and should be on sale at local retailers sometime next week. The price, as promised in September, remains A$229 a pair.
