Soniq Unveils Rainbow Of Colourful Remotes

Does your TV remote control bore you with its black, silver or grey colouring?

Well, if you’re a Soniq TV owner, there’s something you can do about it without needing to buy a universal remote control. 

Codenamed RC QT1D, Soniq’s new range of new remotes that work with selected Soniq TVs are available in green, blue, yellow, red and pink, and retail for $45 each.

Available now from Soniq’s website, at least for the time being, there is surprisingly no mention made of the remotes heading for retail stores like JB Hi-Fi. 


Part of the problem might be that the remotes aren’t universal but must be used with selected Soniq TVs, with the following model numbers listed as being compatible: E23Z13A, E32W13A/D, E40W13A, L32V12B, L42D11A, L47V12A, E48W13A, P51E12A. 

From the code numbers this seems to encompass models from 23-inches up to 40+ inches and beyond. 
 
Had Soniq ensured these remotes were universal, they would have had a much wider audience and application, so perhaps if Soniq doesn’t quite get the sales it is expecting, it might want to urgently figure out how to made the next version a universal learning remote so they work with any brand of TV, although at what you’d imagine would be an increased cost.  
 
Either way, Soniq’s GM, Song Su, sang for his supper, stating: “Apart from selecting a universal remote, traditionally, TV owners have not had the choice to customise their remote from the standard one offered at time of purchase.
 
“With our new range, we wanted to add a splash of colour so that our customers can match their remotes with their environments.”
 
So, while Soniq’s remotes aren’t the universal siren song they could have been, they’ll still sing sweetly to existing Soniq owners who may well want not just a spare or replacement remote, but one with more than just a splash of colour.
