Hello Selfie: Canon PowerShot G7X Revealed
The high performance 20.2mp PowerShot G7X is part of Canon’s growing G-series compacts lineup.
Unveiled at Photokina 2014 in Berlin, this week, the G7X has DSLR-like creativity to capture sharp, clear images even in low light, with a a large 1.0-type, 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor, a DiG!C 6 image processor, f/1.8-2.8 lens that allows lots of light in- even at full zoom.
Canon’s new compact also has 4.2x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 24 – 100mm) and ‘Creative modes’ such as Star Mode, Manual Movie Mode, High Dynamic Range.
The new PowerShot also appeals to selfie generation, the large 180 degrees tilt-up capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi and NFC connects to the cloud via Canon’s digital image management service, irista, share to social networks, and geotag images.
It also captures video in Full HD up to 60 fps and there’s also new Manual Movie function for more control over movie settings and ‘Hybrid Auto’ which captures a 4-second movie clip before each shot and then combines all of them into a HD movie.
Another new release, PowerShot SX60 is Canon’s most powerful SuperZoom yet boasting a huge 65x Optical zoom and 130x Zoomplus equivalent to a huge 21-1365mm, and a 16.8 Megapixel CMOS sensor.
It also has a tilt out LCD Screen and this newbie also takes Full HD 60 fps movies. Like the G7X is has built in Wi-Fi and NFC.
The PowerShot G7X and SX60 HS will be available in Australia from October. No pricing yet available.
