Samsung Unveils Massive 18.4″ Galaxy View Tablet
Samsung states it is the largest Android mobile device on the market, having been designed with a video-centric interface in mind, with its dedicated home screen showcasing various content services all in one place.
The Galaxy View may well bridge the gap between TV and tablet, combining the larger screen size with the portability of a tablet (it weighs in at 2.65 kg), while sporting a two-way stand.
“With its large touchscreen display, video-optimised user interface and long-lasting battery life, the Galaxy View lets consumers seamlessly experience the best in video and media from a range of television and other service providers,” Samsung states of its new offering.
It is powered by a 1.6 GHz octa-core processor and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, comes with 2 GB RAM, and either 32 GB or 64 GB internal memory, along with a microSD card slot, stereo speakers and sports a 2.1 MP camera.
The Galaxy View, which is equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, provides up to eight hours of video playback.
“We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment,” JK Shin, Samsung IT & Mobile Business CEO and head, commented.
Samsung has yet to announce pricing and availability details.
